Rue Cler This amazing street has everything! In the French tradition Parisians buy ingredients for dinner on the way home from work. Oysters, cheese, wine, produce, bread and pastries--all dewy fresh. A few bistros are sprinkled among the shops and a bookstore too. The original convenience store...or street.

So, what's for dinner?
Fish? Chicken? Pasta? Don't forget the wine!
In front of a seafood restaurant, the oyster guy was hawking the freshest oysters in the city. I commented, to no one in particular, that the ones in San Leon (where I live) look just as fresh. Whoops! He responded in pretty good English that no oysters actually existed in San Leon because he had never heard of them --and he knew his oysters. Fresh from Brittany! But the freshest thing in the shop was the oyster guy. |
